Resistenza Type · 2025 · Variable Font
A geometric sans-serif that moves between compressed and wide, thin and black — fluidly, precisely, and with character.
Meet Performa — where geometric precision meets grotesque warmth.
Designed by Giuseppe Salerno & Paco González at Resistenza Type,
it spans a complete 2-axis design space: weight from Thin to Black, width from Compressed to Wide.
Rounded letterforms, open counters, and unique angular details make it adaptable across every medium —
from app interfaces to architectural signage, from editorial layouts to packaging.
One variable font file. Infinite expression.
Variable Axes
Weight — wght · 100→900
Nine weights from Thin (100) to Black (900). Continuous interpolation across the full axis.
Width — wdth · 62.5→200
Six widths from Compressed (62.5%) to Wide (200%). Six discrete instances per weight.

Typography · Issue 12
Variable fonts have quietly transformed how designers think about typefaces. No longer constrained by static styles, the design space becomes a continuous field — an infinite gradient of expression packed into a single efficient file. Performa exploits this fully, offering a two-axis system that spans weight and width simultaneously. The result is a typeface that feels native to both editorial and digital contexts, adapting without compromise.
Culture · Opinion
"Typography should feel alive — it should move with the culture."
When Charli XCX defined the aesthetic of a season with a single word and a shade of green, she reminded us that visual language is never static. Type is the same. Performa was built for this moment.
Design · Process
Six widths. Nine weights. One design system.

The challenge with geometric typefaces has always been rigidity — the circle wants to be a circle, the square wants to be a square, and the result can feel mechanical and cold. Performa introduces subtle grotesque influence at every turn, in the slightly optically-corrected joints, the ink traps, the careful treatment of the apertures. These decisions give the typeface warmth without sacrificing structure.

The Story
Performa started from a simple question: what would a typeface look like if it was designed for everything at once? Not just editorial, not just screen — but the full breadth of contemporary design practice.
Designed by Giuseppe Salerno & Paco González at Resistenza Type, Performa brings together geometric structure and grotesque warmth in a two-axis variable system. The result is a typeface that feels at home in any context — and adapts to it with precision.
The name is not accidental. Performa performs. In packaging, in interfaces, in signage, in books. It holds up at 6pt and commands attention at 600pt. It has personality without being a statement. It has range without losing identity.
